Toll Group opens intermodal freight facility at Port of Fremantle
AUSTRALIA's Toll Group has opened a A$20 million (US$14.7 million) intermodal freight unit at the Port of Fremantle in Western Australia, reports London Business Review.
It includes a 6,000-square metre warehouse and cross-dock, 2,500-TEU capacity container park, quarantine and fumigation services and a weighbridge that helps shippers access national freight networks.
It will also feature remotely-monitored electronic security systems and energy efficient features including LED lighting and rainwater harvesting and recycling.
"We provide an improved service in Western Australia by connecting with our national freight network, warehousing, ports and railways," said Toll managing director Brian Kruger.
The construction of the new facility is a part of the company's A$80 million investment on recent major property investments and upgrades that were aimed at reinforcing its capabilities and reach in Western Australia.
The facility is also set to improve services to customers in all markets including the resources and energy sectors.
Employing 3,000 people in Western Australia, Toll is a major transport and logistics company with operations in road, rail, sea, air and warehousing.
