Cargotec wins US$27.88 million Colombian orders for 14 cranes, 6 forklifts
FINLAND's crane maker Cargotec has won a EUR25 million (US$27.88 million) port equipment order from old customer Sociedad Portuaria Regional de Buenaventura in Colombia for 14 E-One2 rubber-tyre gantry cranes (RTGs) and six forklifts to add to the existing fleet of 26 terminal tractors.
The order comes in response to growth projections that Colombia's oldest port in Buenaventura, whose current annual container handling capacity is 380,000 TEU, will rise to 850,000 TEU by 2020, as domestic operations are expanded and the port enters the transshipment market.
The new port equipment is for the Terminal Especializado de Contenedores de Buenaventura. The delivery of all units is scheduled to be completed by April 2016.
Said general manager of SPRBun, Victor Julio Gonzalez: "As we continue to grow, the possibility of adding Kalmar process automation in the future will help us to maximise productivity in our terminal."
