Malaysia's Westport quarterly profit flat while volume up 3pc
MALAYSIA's Westports Holdings posted a 0.3 per cent second quarter decline to MYR122.1 million (US$31.8 million), drawn on revenue of MYR405.3 million, down two per cent year on year.
Second quarter container throughput rose three per cent to 2.16 million TEU and port officials are sticking to their forecast of throughput growth of between five and 10 per cent this year on the back of the transshipment business as well as the import and export segment.
For the first half, earnings rose 4.6 per cent to MYR242.3 million on revenue growth from MYR772.2 million to MYR804 million after factoring in a stronger first quarter.
