MSC looks set to be world's largest shipping line with 19,000+ TEUers
MEDITERRANEAN Shipping Company, a member of the 2M shipping alliance with the world's top shipping line Maersk, has held a naming ceremony for its third Oscar-class vessel, the 19,224-TEU MSC Zoe, built by South Korea's DSME under DNV-GL classification.
The vessel is to join the 'Swan' service between Asia and North Europe. She is one of 20 mega-ships of over 19,000 TEU, which the carrier is due to take delivery of by the end of the year.
This class of vessel is primed to push MSC into the position of being the largest carrier worldwide, reported The Maritime Executive online.
