Maersk Line adds Prince Rupert to extended Far East-Alaska service
MAERSK Line, the world's biggest container shipping company, is to add Prince Rupert to its Far East-Alaska service, reports Alphaliner.
The revised service will therefore call at Yokohama, Hakata, Busan, Dalian, Qingdao, Prince Rupert, Dutch Harbour, Yokohama, with the first call at Prince Rupert planned on August 27 with the 1,732-TEURHL Astrum.
The service will turn in five weeks instead of four weeks to cater for the extra distance. Sailings are offered on fixed week-day basis with two out of five sailings skipped for the time being.
Three ships are currently deployed. This service was set up by Maersk in January 2015 to continue servicing the Alaskan port of Dutch Harbour further to the closure of its TP-5 loop.
