EMBRAPORT in Brazil's port of Santos has reported the movement of 3,400 TEU in three months via the three new rail servi

MAERSK Line is to take in charge the 9,962-TEU Jenny Box, the fifth of eight wide beam neo-panamaxes contracted by Greek owner Oceanbulk Containers and US private equity firm Oaktree Capital.

These ships are based on the "Hyundai 9000 wide beam" first designed for 9,034 TEU, but boosted to 9,962 TEU by maximising deck cargo by relocating and the wheelhouse from three-quarters aft to a more forward position.

The vessels offer a wide beam of 48.20 metres and 450 reefer plugs.

The ships were ordered in Korea at the Hyundai HI shipyard. The first two ships, delivered in January and March as Cezanne and Dali, have been chartered by Maersk.

Units three and four have been secured by CMA CGM and were delivered in July as CMA CGM Mekong and CMA CGM Ganges. Following the CMA CGM ships, the last four are earmarked to join Maersk.

The Jenny Box is to join Maersk Line in mid-August as Maresk Saltoroon the North China-India Express with CMA CGM.
