LAX cargo up 4pc in June, but 11pc year to date due to docker strife
AIR cargo volumes through Los Angeles International Airport increased 3.4 per cent in June year on year to 172,486 tons, according to figures released by Los Angeles World Airports.
The volume of air cargo is up 11 per cent through the first six months of the year, compared to the same period a year ago, largely due to labour trouble at west coast seaports.
Slowdowns in LA and Long Beach earlier this year pushed some importers and exporters who would normally use ocean freight to fly cargo into Los Angeles instead.
The number of passengers through LAX continued to climb in June increasing four per cent to 6.5 million.
