NYK car carrier rescues 336 from vessel in Mediterranean Sea
THE 71,177-gross ton Hermes Leader, a car carrier operated by NYK Line, was been involved in a rescue operation of 336 passengers in the Mediterranean Sea.
The Japanese shipping company's vessel received an emergency call for help while sailing to the port of Gioia Tauro in Italy, after transiting the Suez Canal.
The NYK Line ship immediately abandoned its route and headed for the troubled vessel to rescue 336 people in the afternoon, who were handed over to the coast guard at the port of Augusta in Sicily the next day.
