AMI air cargo wholesaler finds role in Indian freight agents' ex-works
SYDNEY's AMI (Air Menzies International) a leading air freight and express wholesaler, has responded to the growing trend for ex-works purchasing in India, with the launch of a new service that enables forwarders to optimise the arrival time of their customers' imports.
Ex-works are goods, or the price of goods at the factory door, with all costs of shipping borne by the purchaser, which differs from FOB (free or freight on board) where costs to stowage on board a ship or aircraft are borne by the seller.
AMI's ex-works service provides door to airport transportation from any non-restricted origin point in the world, to any airport in India. The service caters any commodity except perishables, and users can choose between direct expedited service, or an economy consolidated option, said a company statement.
As with all AMI services, the new ex-works service is available only to bona fide freight agents.
"Indian buyers are increasingly focused on professional inventory management, and are using 'just in time' services to provide better coordination of goods flows to support sales promotions and accommodate peaks in demand," said AMI chief executive Stephen Koller.
In addition, freight agents in India using the service are billed locally, avoiding the need to remit funds to an overseas agent. We are also able to provide enhanced tracking information, and this is available online 24/7.
As a member of the John Menzies plc group, AMI is bound by its parent's strict code of conduct and ethics, so is able to provide overseas companies shipping to India with the assurance of rigid compliance with all international regulations and best practice.
