ABC wants to buy first rate Martinair if AF-KLM still want to sell
RUSSIA's AirBridgeCargo (ABC) has said it would be interested in acquiring Dutch freight air carrier Martinair if its cash-strapped owners Air France-KLM wanted to sell it.
ABC vice president Robert van de Weg said his company pursued an acquisition 18 months ago, but Air France-KLM board ended the talks.
'Our interest in Martinair is still there," he told the Dutch trade journal Nieuwsblad Transport. "If the possibility arose, we would be interested to pick up the contact with KLM."
Mr van de Weg, a Dutch national who had former management roles at KLM and Cargolux, said Martinair was still "a great company with a very good reputation in the global air cargo market - and that it would be 'a sin''' if the company disappeared.
