US retail sales slip 0.3pc in June, but rise 1.7pc in second quarter
AMERICAN retail and food services sales in June slipped 0.3 per cent to US$442 billion compared to May, according to advance monthly sales estimates from the US Census Bureau and the Department of Commerce.
Sales, adjusted for seasonal variation and holiday and trading-day differences, were up 1.4 per cent year on year.
Second quarter sales increased 1.7 per cent year on year, but retail decreased 0.3 per cent in June against May, but increased 0.6 per cent year on year.
Food services and pub sales were up 7.7 per cent year on year in June, while sporting goods, hobby, books and music sales were up 6.6 per cent. Monthly sales for gasoline stations fell 17.1 per cent year on year.
