Drewry's LA-Shanghai rate hits year's record low - US$611/FEU
SPOT rates from Los Angeles to Shanghai fell 8.5 per cent year on year to US$611 per FEU, according to Drewry Maritime Research's World Container Index, its lowest level of the year, reflecting declining Chinese demand for US exports.
The rate assessment includes the base ocean rate, the fuel surcharge and all other surcharges, but not the terminal handling charge at the point of destination.
