Home Depot faces US$70,000 FAA fine for hazmat offence
HOME DEPOT of Atlanta faces fines US$70,000 from the Federal Aviation Administration for hazardous materials offence, but company has requested time to explain.
The fine stems from allegations that a Home Depot store in Lincoln, Nebraska, offered a shipment of nine cans of flammable aerosol spray paint to UPS for transportation by air on October 7.
The express delivery firm then contacted the FAA after some of the spray paint was "released into the environment", reported American Shipper.
The FAA alleged the shipment was neither accompanied by documents indicating the shipment contained hazardous materials, nor marked or labelled in accordance with hazmat regulations.
