SDV expects to be first forwarder to implement IATA pharma certification
PARIS-BASED SDV expects to become the first forwarder to implement IATA's CEIV Pharma Certification in 16 major airports worldwide, the company announced.
Claiming leadership in the global supply chain management of pharmaceutical products, SDV plans to accomplish this at so many locations under IATA's CEIV Pharma certification programme.
SDV is well prepared to meet pharma sector's heightened sanitary controls and provide Good Distribution Practice (GDP) guidelines as well as meet rigorous cold chain management requirements, the company statement said.
The Centre of Excellence for Independent Validators (CEIV) Pharma certification programme aims to become the globally recognised standard for the handling of pharmaceutical cargo.
Certification covers infrastructure improvement, staff training and standards of control worldwide.
"Air freight handlers today require specific capabilities to manage pharmaceutical products compared to products from other type of industries," said IATA cargo chief Glyn Hughes.
"The CEIV Pharma programme aims to implement a global standard across the air cargo supply chain by addressing the challenges of each stakeholder, including the latest achievements in pharmaceutical product transportation," he said.
