Volga-Dnepr flies power station from New York to Suez for canal widening
RUSSIA's Volga-Dnepr Airlines has delivered a 28-ton shipment of power stations from New York to Cairo that will be used to supply the Suez Canal widening project.
Before loading on one of Volga-Dnepr's IL-76TD-90VD freighters, the airline's engineers ensured the power stations fit into the aircraft.
At first, the units, in six-metre cradles, were too high for the IL-76 but this was fixed when they dismounted the top and side parts so the cargo could be loaded.
The power stations will be used to support the project to widen the Suez Canal, which is due to be completed in August 2015.
Volga-Dnepr completed the transport on behalf of the Egyptian air charter broker Wi Fli Aviation Solutions, one of the airline's longstanding partners.
