Rotterdam's RBC terminal gets new jetty, redeveloped storage yard
CONSTRUCTION has started on a new jetty at Rotterdam's RBC Container Terminal which will have an electric crane able to lift 30 tons from 30 metres away.
The terminal plans to have the capability to load and unload both laden and empty containers by January 2016.
The current yard at the terminal, which mostly stores empties, is being fitted to handle laden boxes, reported American Shipper.
Said a port authority statement: "The modifications to the yard are being implemented in phases and the first phase has already been completed successfully."
