Escape Manila congestion with Subic bypass, urges Maersk Line
MAERSK has introduced a call at the Subic to relieve shippers of congestion pains in Manila on its Intra-Asia 4 (IA4) service, a move that allows the Danish carrier to provide the widest coverage in the Philippines.
"With port calls in Subic, Manila and Batangas, we now have three weekly port calls in Luzon, which provides our customers with multiple options," said Maersk Line Philippines chief Erry Hardianto.
"Despite the congestion, we have seen strong growth in volumes last year, and growing potential in the manufacturing and electronics sectors," he said.
"We want to offer more products to our customers to support them and to facilitate increasing trade from the Philippines," Mr Hardianto said.
The IA4 service calls at Shenzhen-Yantian, which provides connections to Maersk Line's mother vessel services to Europe, the US and other parts of the world.
As such, Philippines exporters can also use Subic port as an alternative to Manila. This will also allow Philippines importers to get their cargo faster as the IA4 service will call at Subic after Tanjung Pelepas and Singapore, which are the two main transshipment ports for Maersk in south east Asia.
The Intra-Asia 4 (IA4) is a weekly service in and out of Subic. The vessel arrives every Saturday morning and departs on the same day from Subic. The service's maiden call at Subic was January 3.
The full rotation of the IA4 service is Vostochny, Busan, Kwanyang, Shanghai, Xiamen, Shenzhen-Yantian, Hong Kong, Tanjung Pelepas, Singapore, Jakarta, Surabaya, Jakarta, Tanjung Pelepa, Singapore, Subic, Manila, Guangzhou-Nansha, Shenzhen-Yantian, Kaoshiung, Ningbo, Shanghai, Busan and back to Vostochny.
