PIL reinstates direct China-Chittagong link docking at Shekou and Nansha
SINGAPORE's Pacific International Line (PIL) has reintroduced a direct service connecting China to Chittagong, the Chittagong China Straits (CCS) service, which combines China, Chittagong links and South China to Singapore links and a Singapore-Chittagong two-way shuttle through a butterfly pattern pivoting on Singapore.
The CCS calls at Guanghzhou-Nansha, Shenzhen-Shekou, Singapore, Chittagong, Penang, Singapore, Guangzhou-Nansha. It turns in four weeks with four ships in the 1,400-1,600 TEU range, reports Alphaliner.
The first departure was ensured from Guangzhou-Nansha on December 11 with the 1,740-TEU Hansa Norburg, a vessel chartered by PIL for a short period from Hamburg-based owner Leonhardt & Blumberg. The service will then be run with four ships owned by PIL.
PIL previously offered a direct China-Chittagong service from September 2011 to early 2012 with the Bangladesh Thailand China (BTC) service.
