CSX announces opening of intermodal terminal in Valleyfield near Montreal
A MAJOR eastern US railway, the CSX, has announced the opening of a new US$100 million, 89-acre intermodal terminal in Valleyfield southwest of Montreal.
The facility expands CSX's intermodal network capacity and offers Canadians domestic and international service that connects with the the US railway's 21,000-mile network in the United States.
"Opening a terminal near Montreal creates an opportunity to build relationships with new customers, expand access to new markets, and improve the efficiency of the North American supply chain," said CSX vice president Clarence Gooden.
The terminal will have three rubber-tyre gantry (RTG) cranes. With capacity for 100,000 loads, the Valleyfield terminal is an important addition to the railway's intermodal network, the company statement said.
Trains serving the new terminal will also connect through the Northwest Ohio intermodal hub, offering efficient access to markets across the United States and Canada.
