'K' Line expands use of ClassNK-NAPA GREEN to three more vessels
SOFTWARE provider NAPA and ClassNK have announced that Japan's "K" Line is to install their ClassNK-NAPA GREEN solution on three additional ships, after a successful trial of the eco-efficiency software on one of the shipping line's 8,600 TEU-vessels.
ClassNK representative director & executive vice president, Yasushi Nakamura, said: "Software solutions like ClassNK-NAPA GREEN offer a great opportunity for vessel owners and operators to accurately measure and understand the performance and fuel consumption of vessels, as well as optimise their operations.
"Along with Wan Hai Lines and Shoei Kisen, "K" Line was one of the first operators to trial the ClassNK-NAPA GREEN solution, and that they have chosen to expand the application to further vessels is the greatest proof that we are supplying the industry with an effective and valuable product."
The trial installation took place earlier this year and according to ClassNK and NAPA, the self-learning component of the software - the dynamic performance model - was found to be "extremely accurate" during the trial, London's Digital Ship reported.
"At NAPA our goal has always been to offer solutions for safe and eco-efficient ship design and operations," said NAPA Japan managing director, Naoki Mizutani.
"ClassNK-NAPA GREEN is proving itself in all areas of this including delivering proven bunker cost savings and feedback to ship designs to improve newbuilds in the future."
