Canada's Descartes software giant buys two e-customs firms for US$118 million
CANADIAN global logistics technology specialist Descartes Systems has acquired a British electronic security firm e-customs Inc for US$9 million, reports the UK's Air Cargo News.
Descartes has also announced the $2.8 million acquisition of Pentant Ltd, a UK-based Community System Provider offering customs streamlined declaration, cargo security and clearance processes at several UK ports and airports.
The first e-customs deal will bring the e-customs' Webdecs UK fiscal filing and security system within the Waterloo, Ontario logistics software giant's suite of specialist cloud based systems.
"By combining with e-customs, we've deepened our UK expertise and added more robust capabilities to our global customs and regulatory compliance solution portfolio," said Descartes CEO Edward Ryan.
"We're also excited by the opportunity to help e-customs-installed base of customers run more efficient and profitable logistics operations by providing them access to the complementary solutions available on Descartes-Logistics Technology Platform," he said.
