Bosporus shut to tanker traffic on fog, low visibility: shipping agents
The Bosporus Strait is currently closed to tanker traffic due to fog, shipping sources said Thursday.
“The Bosporus closed at 11:32 am [0932 GMT] today due to fog and low visibility,” a local shipping agent’s report said.
A source at a second shipping agent said: “The Bosporus is closed because of fog but should re-open this afternoon.”
The Bosporus and the Dardanelles together form the only commercially navigable transit route between the Black Sea and the Mediterranean.
