Volga-Dnepr flies urgent aid to Iraqi refugees from Switzerland
RUSSIA's Volga-Dnepr Airlines has delivered 45 tons of humanitarian supplies on board a Ilyushin IL-76TD-90VD freighter to Iraqi Kurdistan from Zurich.
The freighter carried 905 tents, 6,000 blankets and mattresses, and 600 camp kitchens. The flight was contracted by one of the airline's logistics partners, Air Charter Service, reports American Journal of Transportation.
The carrier has been supporting humanitarian and peacekeeping missions for two decades. Over this period, it has transported 68,000 tons of humanitarian cargo to 93 countries on board 1,072 flights operated by its Antonov An-124-100 ruslan and IL-76TD-90VD freighter fleet.
