Russia's AirBridgeCargo increases cargo volume 14pc in first nine months
RUSSIA's AirBridgeCargo Airlines (ABC), part of Volga-Dnepr Group, posted a 14 per cent year-on-year increase in freight flown to 290,735 tons in the first nine months of 2014.
The airline's average load factor for the nine months ending September 30 was 71 per cent, exceeding the industry average of 45 per cent.
"As a global airline, we are not immune from the downturn in international economies," said ABC president Denis Ilin.
"However, this has challenged us to focus even more on developing and implementing new business opportunities and solutions that have given us a platform for growth," he said.
ABC's growth in 2014 has been boosted by the continued expansion of its network, with new destinations and additional frequencies on the airline's existing routes, said a company statement.
In September, Switzerland was added to ABC's network with the launch of scheduled Boeing 747 all-cargo services to/from Basel, focused on the healthcare industry.
"Basel has one of the highest concentrations of life sciences businesses in the world," said the company statement.
The airline also added frequencies to Seoul and Tokyo to increase options in the region, especially for those in the automotive sector.
"By adding new destinations and improving connectivity with its Moscow hub, AirBridgeCargo now offers an extensive choice of direct routes in Europe, North America and Asia Pacific as well as over 400 connections with a delivery time of below 48 hours on almost all of its origin-destination pairs." said the company.
The airline has also announced plans to further increase its presence on existing markets. Starting from the 2014/15 winter schedule, ABC will launch additional frequencies to Munich, Milan, Amsterdam, Hong Kong, Shanghai, Chicago and Dallas.
AirBridgeCargo Airlines has a yearly tonnage compound growth rate of 39 per cent. It deploys a modern and efficient Boeing 747 all-cargo fleet of 12 aircraft and maintains an on-time performance averaging 78 per cent, said the company.
ABC provides temperature-control on each 747's four cargo compartments to between four and minus 29 degrees Celsius, ensuring a flexible, safe and reliable environment for high value pharmaceuticals. ABC is a member of IATA, the Cool Chain Association, TAPA and Cargo 2000.
