UASC and Hamburg Sud in alliance that promises each global reach

HAMBURG Sud and United Arab Shipping Co (UASC) have signed a deal that gives UAE carrier access to South American trades and the German line access to Asia-Europe and transpac services.

Hamburg Sud will enter the Asia-north Europe trade in December and the transpacific trades in January. Meanwhile UASC will join the Europe-east coast South America and Asia-South America from mid-2015.

This is the second alliance UASC has signed recently, following its joining the Ocean Three network that unites them with CMA CGM and China Shipping.

At first, the co-operation will take the form of slot exchanges. Vessel deployment will be explored in due course and geographic scope for co-operation is also under discussion.

Said UASC chief executive Jorn Hinge: 揟his co-operation with Hamburg Sud enables access to the South America trades and illustrates our ambitious approach to enhance geographic coverage.?

Said Hamburg Sud chairman Ottmar Gast: 揟his will enable Hamburg Sud and UASC to complement each other抯 core services and networks, offering both lines?customers a more comprehensive global reach."

Detailed service announcements will be provided shortly, said the two carriers.
