Boeing issues appeal to Congress to save US Export-Import (Ex-Im) Bank
US AIRCRAFT maker Boeing issued a statement appealing for something more than the reprieve the US Congress passed to provide a temporary continuation of the Export-Import (Ex-Im) Bank, which Republicans want to axe to cut federal spending.
Said Boeing: "Congress has left thousands of small, medium and large US exporters and their workers in limbo until the middle of next year and this will likely negatively impact US sales to foreign customers. We will press Congress for a multi-year reauthorisation of Ex-Im."
Conservative opponents say the federal bank is in unfair competition with private lenders and offers to buy risk in loan guarantees at lower rates than the private sector and mostly lends to big companies like Boeing that do not need it.
