St Petersburg handles lion's share of Baltic boxes from January to July
MOST containers shipped from the Baltic Sea's eastern shores during the first seven months of the year were handled at the ports of St Petersburg, Klaipeda and Riga.
St Petersburg was the leader with 1.4 million TEU, followed by Klaipeda with 253,496 TEU; Riga, 218,135 TEU; Kaliningrad, 212,130 TEU and Tallinn with 154,527 TEU, reports Riga's Baltic Course.
The largest increase in box volume year on year was achieved by Kaliningrad with an increase of 15.4 per cent, followed by Klaipeda's 10.5 per cent growth, Tallinn 3.1 per cent, and Riga registered 0.8 per cent growth.
