Hactl upgrades security with deployment of electric patrol cars
HONG KONG's biggest ground handler - Hactl - has enhanced security operations with the introduction of two electric vehicles to enable security staff to increase patrol frequency.
Security for the massive Hactl SuperTerminal 1 facility - the world's largest single cargo terminal - requires 260 staff doing perimeter and premise patrols as well as guarding and scanning cargo.
The eco-friendly electric vehicles are limited to 15 kph for safety reasons, but reduce travel times around the 174,600-square metre site, which has a perimeter of 1,850 metres.
The vehicles are used 24/7 and have been a hit with Hactl security staff.
"Our mobile patrol vehicles have increased our visible presence. We make more efficient use of staff, speeding incident response and the clamping of illegally parked vehicles," said security chief Andrew Sin.
