Ukraine's Port of Odessa handles its first 9,400-TEU containership

THE Ukrainian Sea Ports Authority has announced that Odessa has become the first seaport in the country to receive a 9,400-TEU containership, reported St Petersburg's Port News.

The 113,800-dwt CMA CGM Danube, moored at berths 42 and 43 where she delivered 1,027 containers with 1,307 containers taken on. 



Sailing from China, the ship was making her maiden voyage under a bareboat charter for China International Marine Containers (CIMC). 



She is the first in a series of 28 sister ships each with a capacity of 9,400 TEU that are being built for the French shipping line by Dalian Shipbuilding Industry Offshore Co (DSIC). 



The ships are due to be delivered to the carrier by the third quarter of 2016. The container ship is designed to serve the Black Sea. 



She is to operate the Bosphorus Express (BEX) that calls at: Dalian, Tianjin, Kwangyang, Busan, Shanghai, Ningbo, Shenzhen-Chiwan, Shenzhen-Yantian, Tanjung Pelepas, Izmit, Istambul Ambarli, Constanza, Odessa, Ilyichevsk, Port Said, Port Kelang and Singapore and back to Dalian.
