Crowley claims location edge being next to Florida's new rail facility

THE opening of Florida East Coast Railway's (FEC) intermodal transfer facility adjacent to Crowley Maritime Corporation's Port Everglade terminal is providing Crowley customers with more efficient service, the company announced.

The 43-acre, near-dock station's location allows Crowley to handle bigger, heavier out-of-gauge cargo more efficiently and cost effectively because of the shorter distance required for transit to the railhead, said the company.

"As one of the FEC's largest intermodal customers, the location of the new facility is a win-win, for our customers who are benefitting from faster and more efficient cargo handling," said Crowley.

Jacksonville-based Crowley Holdings Inc is a privately held company, providing project solutions, transport and logistics services in domestic and international markets by means of six operating lines of business.

FEC is a 351-mile freight rail line located along the east coast of Florida. It is the exclusive rail provider for Port Miami, Port Everglades, and Port of Palm Beach. FEC connects to the national railroad network in Jacksonville.
