Frankfurt's Fraport Cargo Services opens temp-sensitive warehouse

GERMANY's Fraport Cargo Services (FCS) has opened a new warehouse to store temperature-sensitive shipments at 15 to 25 degrees round the clock.

The solution was provided by Jet-Inn Cool-Service, which already operates the two to eight degrees warehouse.

"We have worked out new procedures and processing standards for import and export when dealing with this sensitive cargo so that as little time as possible elapses between the refrigerated truck and the refrigerated warehouse," said managing director Diana Schoneich.

"In addition, FCS has created a own special handling crew, which is trained in handling temperature-controlled projects."

The new product offering uses shipment data to recognise immediately upon delivery that it contains temperature-controlled products.

A special crew take on the prioritised handling and initially bring the cargo into the special warehouse, reported the American Journal of Transportation.

The entire pallet then waits to be moved to a plane. Working with Fraport Ground Services, the temperature-sensitive cargo leaves the warehouse only when a refrigerated truck is ready to pick it up.
