Evergreen launches 7th of ten 13,808-TEUers for CKYHE Asia-Europe
TAIWAN-based Evergreen Line has received the seventh in a series of 10 box ships, the 13,808-TEU Thalassa Mana ordered in July 2012 from Hyundai Heavy Industries for a 10-year charter.
Each vessel sold at a price of US$116.5 million per vessel, much reduced from 2008 peak level of $160 million to $170 million. The remaining vessels will be delivered this September.
The Thalassa Mana will join sister vessel Thalassa Niki delivered in June on the Evergreen's Far East-Europe CEM service, part of the new CKYHE alliance, with the CKYH partners branding the string NE 5 with an 8,500-TEU capacity.
