8,452-TEU Ever Lucky to enter Evergreen's Asia-USWC service
THE 8,452-TEU Ever Lucky, the 20th of the L-type models to be built for the shipping line at the Samsung Heavy Industries shipyard, has been christened in a ceremony.
Owned by Greencompass Marine SA, EMC's Panamanian subsidiary, the new ship will be delivered next month and deployed on the carrier誷 Asia-US west coast service.
The company received the first of these containerships in July 2012 as part of its fleet renewal programme to enhance the competitiveness of its operating fleet within the global market.
In 2010 the group initiated its current fleet renewal programme that totals 30 L-type vessels, 20 of which have been ordered from Samsung Heavy Industries and the other 10 from the CSBC Corporation in Taiwan.
The delivery of this latest newbuilding adds the 25th such vessel to the fleet. The remaining five ships are being built by CSBC and will be delivered in the third quarter of 2015.
While integrating the new ships into its services, the shipping line plans to return 24 chartered vessels during the course of this year and next.
