Zhonggu Shipping seals financing for boxship pair
Shanghai-based Zhonggu Shipping has secured financing from Shanghai Guojin Leasing on the purchase of two 2,850 teu containerships.
The pair of newbuildings will be built at Zhoushan Wuzhou Shipbuilding and delivery is scheduled in 2015, reports said. The loan amount was not disclosed.
A spokesman from Guojin Leasing told reporters that the financial institution has met this year’s target for its shipping portfolio to finance various vessels ranging from containerships, dry bulk carriers, product tankers and chemical tankers.
Zhonggu Shipping has also recently secured loans for another six 2,850 teu containerships from other banks.
In September 2013, Zhonggu Shipping ordered ten 2,850 teu eco-friendly containerships at Zhoushan Wuzhou Shipbuilding as part of its fleet expansion plans.
The Chinese shipowner currently operates a fleet of about 50 vessels.
