Wuhu port's five-month box volume increases 21.8pc to 143,000 TEU
THE Port of Wuhu in eastern China's Anhui province posted a year-on-year 21.8 per cent increase in container volume to 143,000 TEU in the first five months of the year, reports Xinhua.
Overall cargo throughput in the period via the port increased 18 per cent to 41.75 million tonnes, setting a record high and accounting for 41.75 per cent of its annual target.
Foreign trade volume in the five months went up 10.8 per cent year on year to 859,500 tonnes. The number of commercial automobiles declined 6.2 per cent to 31,748.
In May, apart from coal and non-metallic mine, the port's major categories of cargo such as cement surged 43.6 per cent year on year to 2.81 million tonnes, metallic ore increased 14.1 per cent to 706,600 tonnes, steel went up 18.7 per cent to 248,100 tonnes, oil and gas products climbed 31.8 per cent to 128,100 tonnes, mineral building materials grew 37.1 per cent to 2.17 million tonnes, while coal fell 0.6 per cent to 1.55 million tonnes and non-metallic mine went down 12.7 per cent to 1.35 million tonnes.
