US, Canada, Mexico April trade up 1.2pc to US$100.1 billion
TRADE between the principal NAFTA (North American Free Trade Agreement) partners, the US, Canada and Mexico, grew 1.2 per cent in April year on year to US$100.1 billion, according to the US Department of Transportation.
The trade total is a decline from the $101.48 billion in trade posted in March, which stands as the highest trade total so far this year, reported American Shipper.
April US import value to the two countries rose by 1.5 per cent year on year to $53.69 billion, as exports increased 0.8 per cent to nearly $46.45 billion.
The biggest increases in surface transport came in truck imports, which rose 4.3 per cent, and vessel exports, which were up 4.2 per cent year on year.
Imports by vessel to the US fell 22.5 per cent, year on year as air imports fell 2.7 per cent and 3.4 per cent, respectively. Rail imports dropped 4.2 per cent and truck exports fell 2.5 per cent.
