Fujian port container volume up 10pc to 4.93 million TEU in 5 months
PORTS in southeastern China's Fujian province posted a 10 per cent year-on-year increase in provincial port container volume to 4.93 million TEU in the first five months of the year, reports Xinhua.
Xiamen, the largest port in Fujian, lifted 3.29 million TEU in the first five months, up 6.8 per cent year on year. And Fuzhou, the second largest port, experienced a 13.9 per cent throughput increase to 873,400 TEU.
In the same period, the aggregate throughput tonnage of all ports in Fujian amounted to 197 million tonnes, up 10.1 per cent from the same period last year.
Xiamen handled a total of 81.05 million tonnes of cargo, up 6.6 per cent. Fuzhou's cargo volume also surged 18.8 per cent to 58.07 million tonnes.
