Samudera and Cosco team up in Straits-Indonesia-Thailand service
CHINA's biggest shipping line, Cosco, will team up with Singapore's Samudera to offer a Straits-Indonesia-Thailand loop in the new ITX Indonesia-Thailand Express.
The service unites two existing Samudera services, the JKT and the BKX-2, under a new ITX branding. The loop will turn every two weeks deploying the 1,756-TEU Nordlion from Cosco and the 1,708-TEU Sinar Subang from Samudera.
The loop with a butterfly pattern centred on Singapore and servicing Indonesia and Thailand, will rotate through Singapore, Bangkok (PAT), Laem Chabang, Singapore, Jakarta and back to Singapore.
The new joint service is expected to result in a revision to Samudera's Straits-South Vietnam and Jakarta service. In Thailand, the two other shuttles operated by Samudera (BKX 1/BKX 3) connecting Singapore, Bangkok and Laem Chabang will remain unchanged.
