Chile box terminal buys 3 Liebherr ship-to-shore container cranes
TERMINAL Pacifico Sur Valparaiso in Chile has bought three ship-to-shore container cranes with a span of 62 metres and a load capacity of 65 tonnes, from Liebherr Container Cranes.
They are the largest cranes Liebherr ever built and will allow the terminal to handle 16,000-TEU ships, reports the American Journal of Transportation, of Plymouth, Massachusetts.
The cranes incorporate the latest security and control technologies, an integrated remote monitoring system for efficient crane operation, monitoring and management of the cranes from within the terminal.
Central Chile has seen a 15 per cent surge in container movement over the last three years.
