DHL EXPRESS Hong Kong recently brought together its own global experts in security and customs compliance at an event held at the Ritz-Carlton.

DHL vice president Adrian Whelan, head security and customs and vice president Raymond Yee head of customs and regulatory affairs spoke to local businesses on how best to maintain security and meet customs requirements.

"The event was part of DHL's ongoing efforts to promote the best possible environment for Hong Kong businesses that want to trade across borders," said the DHL statement.

Its Business without Borders - Security and Customs Insights for International Shipping' seminar was attended by senior officials from Hong Kong Customs and focused on customers in the fashion and technology sectors.

In 2013, Hong Kong International Airport handled over 4.1 million tonnes of air freight. This makes it the busiest cargo hub in the world according to Airports Council International.

With range of new transport infrastructure coming on stream, DHL is taking steps to ensure that growth in the air freight it facilitates can be achieved securely and in compliance with local regulations.

"These seminars are conducted for our customers to help promote greater understanding of best practices of customs security and compliance across their supply chains," said DHL Asia Pacific chief Jerry Hsu.
