Russia's Summa Group signs accord with Jilin on Zarubino Port logistics

THE governor of Jilin province, Bayanqolu and the president of Russia's Summa Group, Alexander Vinokurov, have signed a cooperation agreement to jointly develop Zarubino Port logistics, reports Xinhua.

Located in the Khasansky district in Primorsky Region of Russia, the Zarubino Port has a natural ice-free harbour, 63 kilometres from Jilin's Hunchun checkpoint, with an annual capacity 60 million tonnes once completed.

Summa Group is a diversified private holding company with significant investments in port logistics, engineering, construction, telecommunications and the oil and gas sectors. It is the largest port operator in Russia and the third largest in Europe.

Jilin provincial government is now actively seeking port logistics partners from northeast Asia by accelerating the strategy of "transiting goods to sea via port" to integrate the national strategy of the Silk Road Economic Belt and the Sea Silk Road to develop a Sino-Mongolia-Russia economic belt and to build a Sino-Russia Hunchun-Kasansky cross-border economic cooperation zone.

The Jilin government is to invite Summa Group to build a logistics centre in Hunchun to attract cargo and to establish a warehousing centre in Changchun Xinglong Comprehensive Bonded Zone to promote the logistics development of both sides.

In order to secure smooth operation of the cooperation, the two parties will cooperate on streamlining customs clearance for transshipments.
