HABA-SPED offers China-to-Switzerland guaranteed daily LCL delivery
HABA-SPED, a Swiss forwarder, is introducing in June a daily less-than-container load (LCL) service from Shanghai, Shenzhen-Yantian and Hong Kong to the ports of Antwerp, Rotterdam, Bremerhaven and Hamburg with guaranteed turnaround times.
The service from the Basil-area company features daily departures with guaranteed arrival times on 32 to 33-day voyages, starting when the container has cleared China Customs before 5pm.
"Everyday direct from Chinese seaports of Hong Kong, Shenzhen-Yantian and Shanghai to Switzerland with no transshipments or stopovers," said a company statement. "The container is sealed in China and only opened on arrival in Switzerland."
With daily shipments the company said the time spent on transshipments is eliminated and waiting times at ports or customs are kept to a minimum.
On arrival in Europe, the consolidated containers are transported to Switzerland by rail from the destination ports. They can also be transported by road, subject to a surcharge and upon request.
"Added to this is the welcome optimisation of stock management as well as simplified procurement logistics and order placements."
For the company, the new HABA-SPED service between China and Switzerland marks the beginning of a new era in shipping.
"The guaranteed turnaround time for the new service specifies the time from cut-off to the point when the goods are forwarded by train or truck so that delivery times can calculated precisely.
"It also means that contracts and delivery times agreed with end customers can be adhered to, thereby keeping contractual penalties to a minimum," the company said.
For delays of one to three days the company offers rebates of US$5 per cubic metre and $10 per cubic metre for delays of four days or more under normal circumstances. The penalty does not applying if a general average was declared or there was a hold up at customs.
"All things considered, savings of up to $50,000 per year can be achieved, depending on the volume and number of shipments, not least because further savings can be made with less-than-full container loads compared with air freight shipments."
