Jiangsu Rugao Container Terminal's No 3 and 4 berths good to go
THE number 3 and 4 berths at Suzhong International Container Terminal of Rugao port in eastern China's Jiangsu province has passed acceptance test by the municipal inspection sectors such as maritime, customs and frontier defence, reports Xinhua.
The terminal's domestic trade throughput has reached 1,077 TEU since February when the Rugao Suzhong International Container Terminal launched its first domestic trade service.
The number 3 and 4 berths can dock cargo ships with capacity of 5,000 tonnes. Operation of the berths will play an important role in promoting the port's throughput and foreign trade volume, reducing transport cost for the hinterland exporters and accelerating Rugao's export-oriented economic development.
The two berths are expected to pass provincial acceptance tests at the end of May. Meanwhile the authority will quicken the rounding-off work of the terminal's number 1 and 2 berths and make them to pass the provincial acceptance check before the end of October this year.
