EShips sells two tankers for $15.4m
Abu Dhabi shipowner EShips has sold two small tankers en bloc in a deal worth US$15.4 million. The vessels, a pair of 8,500-dwt tankers built in 2003, were sold for $7.7m each to an undisclosed buyer from Asia.
EShips has now sold three tankers this year, bringing in a combined total of $23.4m.
The Abu Dhabi company now has 14 vessels in its current tanker fleet.
It also has two newbuilds on order, a pair of capesize tankers which will become the largest vessels in the fleet when they are delivered later this year.
The two 180,000-dwt vessels are currently being built in China by Qingdao Beihai Shipbuilding Heavy Industry Company and are valued at $53.7million each, making them the most expensive vessels in the EShips fleet. They will also be the first Chinese-built vessels in the fleet.
