Fujian to spend US$57.6 billion on infrastructure over 5 years

SOUTHEAST Fujian province recently announced a traffic investment plan that it aims to invest a total of CNY360 billion (US$57.6 billion) on traffic construction in the next five years, reports Xinhua. 

This will go on CNY123 billion on expressways, CNY165 billion on ordinary roads, CNY55 billion on major ports construction, CNY6.3 billion on comprehensive transport hubs and CNY10 billion on traffic services. 



The provincial government has earmarked CNY36 billion for expressways this year to continue 22 ongoing projects of 918 kilometres. 



Involving an investment of CNY42 billion, Fujian provincial transport department director Zhang Zhaomin said 2013 the province finished building 560-kilometre expressways of 14 projects. The province's total mileage of expressways in operation surpassed 4,000 kilometres in 2013 and it is expected to hit 5,000 kilometres by the end of 2015.
