Ningxia to spend US$1.57 billion on road building in 2014
THE northwest China's Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region plans to invest CNY9.8 billion (US$1.57 billion) on roads in 2014, 20 per cent more than it did in 2013, reports Xinhua.
The region's total mileage of roads in operation is expected to hit 30,000 kilometres by the end of this year, with the highway density reaching 45.2 kilometres per million square kilometre.
The region's transport department director Xu Xuemin said the government will build and upgrade rural roads of 1,500 kilometres and set up 220 passenger stations this year.
Ningxia's road building paved 2,032 new kilometres by the end of 2013 with total regional coverage now surpassing 28,500 kilometres.
