Rotterdam low sulfur bunker fuel premiums fall back on improved supply: sources
Rotterdam low sulfur bunker fuel premiums have eased back from a recent spike amid improved availability from loading installations, sources said.
Platts assessed delivered low sulfur bunker fuel barges at a premium of $6.75/mt to FOB 1% sulfur barges Monday. The premium touched $25.25/mt on March 4 amid loading delays for barges in Rotterdam from BP installations in Rotterdam, market sources said.
BP declined to comment to comment on the matter at the time.
Rotterdam loadings have subsequently resumed but remain at a lower level than is typical. Weekend loadings were running smoothly but suppliers reported lower than expected contractual volumes Monday.
"There have been delays on LSFO but they are not really an issue at the moment," a BP source said Monday morning.
Other bunker players said Monday that there were still some delays to scheduled loading dates elsewhere in the market.
"We nominated our barge on March 14 but were scheduled to load March 18," a bunker source said.
