Hubei's Jingzhou port's 2013 box volume hits 100,000 TEU
THE port of Jingzhou located in the middle reaches of the Yangtze River in central China's Hubei province handled a record high of 100,000 TEU in 2013.
The growth was attributed to a series of preferential policies introduced by local authorities last year, including the introduction of a Jingzhou municipal government subsidy last April payable to container shipping lines that call at Yanka Container Terminal.
In 2013, 120 sailings received a total of CNY537,000 (US$87,692.1) in subsidies, reported Xinhua.
The Jingzhou Yanka Container Terminal is a major hub for the city's import and export trade and the only dedicated container terminal in the port area.
Jingzhou's foreign trade volume moved through the Yanka Container Terminal accounted for 33 per cent of the port's total in 2013.
