Fujian Customs and quarantine sector tie up to enhance efficiency

THE Fuzhou Customs and Fujian Inspection and Quarantine Bureau have developed further cooperation on the "three once" customs clearance system to enhance efficiency, reports Xinhua.

Nine Dragons Paper Holdings' Fuzhou office chief said every container will now be opened and checked only once, reducing manpower, time and cost.

Besides, shippers no longer have to run around customs and inspection units for shipment clearance and the clearance time of each batch of goods can be shortened by two or three days.

The "only once 3-in-1" inspection regime, which means a "once-only declarations, once-only inspections and once-only clearances", first started pilot run in the province in July 2013.

It is said the new customs clearance policy has enhanced declaration efficiency more than 30 per cent and reduced declaration time 30 per cent.

Under the new system, the Fuzhou Jiangyin port area has handled a total of 6,185 import containers as of the end of November 2013, with the value of US$14.82 million.
