Maanshan port January container volume increases 25pc to 8,204 TEU
EASTERN China's river port Maanshan in Anhui province posted a 25 per cent year-on-year increase in container throughput to 8,204 TEU in January 2014, reports Xinhua.
The foreign trade cargo volume in the month surged 61.2 per cent year on year to 79,000 tonnes.
Overall cargo volume in January declined 10.6 per cent year on year to 5.76 million tonnes, attributed to the shutdown of businesses during the Chinese New Year.
The main products handled by the port in the month include ore, mineral building materials, coal, steels and cement.
